      Twilight Thoughts

 “The Bewitching Hours have Arrived

Night 1

Jonny Micca found himself wandering aimlessly down what appeared to be dirt

road. He had no clue where he was but just continued walking. It was pitch black except for the stars casting a silhouette of light above him. The moon was 1/4 full, which gave Jonny enough light to prevent him from tripping or stumbling. He kept walking for what appeared to be hours on end with no destination or course of action that he was aware of. He had neither a clue where he was nor what the purpose was! Jonny kept walking forward until he could vaguely make out a dim light ahead of him. He kept following the light for whatever purpose there was but it seemed it was the right thing to do! Where the light was leading Jonny was a mystery having no clue of what he was about to be drawn into!

Jonny woke up the following morning perplexed by the dream that he had not knowing the meaning of it.  A dream that had no value except for the mystical feeling it gave him. Jonny got up from his bed to get ready for work. As he arose, he noticed that his feet and lower legs were covered in dried up mud and blood.

It was only a dream! How could he have gotten mud and blood on his legs? This caused much confusion for Jonny seeing that he had slept the whole night in his own bed not being aware of any nighttime excursions.  Jonny was not a sleepwalker as far as he could tell. His parents, when he was living at home never made any mention of it!

Jonny thought a lot about the dream, only remembering that it was at night and he was walking down a long dirt road with no destination. Maybe in fact he did sleepwalk! That would explain how the mud and dirt got on his legs but how did the blood get there Jonny thought to himself.  He inspected his legs and feet but found no visible signs of any cuts or scrapes. Jonny got frightened, wondering if the blood was not his, whose was it? Jonny needed continuation of this dream to find out the answers to his questions?

Jonny was 25 years old being born on May 31, 1985 under the zodiac sign of the Gemini. He was born and raised in the town of Litchfield, Ct. where he lived with his parents Jonathan Sr. and Patricia Micca. They lived in a very nice community and were middle class Americans. Jonny’s father was a plumber, lived and worked in the area for his whole life. Jonny’s mother was a practical nurse employed a local hospital in Torrington, Ct.

Jonny’s personality was that of a true Gemini being the life of the party, quite charming and leaving others not knowing what to expect.

Jonny was 6’ tall weighing about 180pounds, light blond wavy hair with an enchanting smile. He worked as an apprentice plumber with his father and their compatibility was great.

Jonny moved into his own apartment when he was about 24 years old. He rented a two-bedroom apartment in the neighboring town of Bathan, Ct. It was a short commute to work and that suited him fine. He recently rented the other bedroom to an old high school friend. Her name was Justine D’Moore, about the same age and having similar interest. She was also a practical nurse working at the same hospital as Jonny’s mother.

Justine noticed the mud and blood on Jonny’s lower legs and asked him what had happened? Jonny looked at her and responded that I am not certain! She noticed a look of confusion on Jonny’s face but did not pursue any further questioning.

Jonny took a shower, got dressed and headed off to work. He put the last night’s episode on the back burner and would reflect on it at a latter time

Night 2

Jonny found himself walking down the same dirt road approaching a crosswalk. He could see the same dim light ahead of him but it was clearer now as he continued walking towards it. As he neared the intersection, he could see a grand mansion set back in the property. The front on the mansion had a long driveway about 500 feet leading to the house.  A massive garden was set on both sides of the driveway as a grant entryway. A large pond set a beautiful scenario to enhance the beauty of the property. Jonny started walking down the driveway towards the house wondering who had lived in it? As he approached the house, he could tell that it was very run down, vacant and that nobody had lived in it for some time. Jonny wondered how a mansion of this magnitude could have gotten to this condition? Why was the light on, who had turned it on and maintained it? Why was this particular light leading Jonny to this house? So many questions to a dream that Jonny was not even sure that he was having!

Dawn was approaching as Jonny headed further towards the mansion, which enabled him to get a better view of the mansion and the surrounding property. As he approached  the pond, seeing the scum that was covering the total surface, Jonny thought that it was in it’s time a beautiful swimming hole that must have brought about great memories to those who had lived and grown up in this household. Jonny was about 100 feet from the front door. He looked to the right and saw a large greenhouse that was still standing but all the glass was broken and once again, he thought that it must have been another showpiece of the property when it was in its prime.

Jonny walked up to the Mansion entry approaching the front staircase which was all broken down, peeling paint, broken clapboard, bricks, broken windows and coping which brought further distress to Jonny. How could something so beautiful be so neglected? Jonny approached the front door and opened it. A beautiful entryway, which was once magnificent, but now run down full of cobwebs, dust, debris and everything unimaginable to the human eye! He continued lurking around and approached a parlor to the right of the living room. As he entered the parlor, Jonny noticed a high back chair situated in the center of the room. The chair looked in good condition and that looked odd since everything else was in horrible shape. As he walked closer to the chair, he was shocked as a beautiful woman about his age suddenly stood up! Jonny almost collapsed to the floor but was caught by the woman and held upright. Both were suddenly spellbound not knowing what to say! She was about 6’ tall, flowing long blond wavy hair, blue eyes, full lips and a button of a nose. She reached to Jonny, hugged him and gave him a big long kiss on the mouth. Jonny had closed his eyes enjoying the moment. When he opened his eyes after the kiss and looked around, he saw that the parlor was transformed back to the original condition as if the family had always been there. Actually, every detail of the house was transformed back to the original condition.  Cora, Elsie were the servants/cooks in the mansion and were bustling about doing their chores. Ernest the chauffeur was polishing the car in the driveway, Salvador was tending to the gardens and the remainder of the help was doing their daily tasks. Jonny stepped back and was spellbound with what he had just experience.

Day 3

He woke up around 7 o’clock in the morning not knowing what to make of last night’s episode. As usual, he got ready for work. Justine greeted him good morning and asked how he had slept. Jonny gave a perplexed look and a grin that was not going away anytime soon! Strange things are happening thought Jonny to himself. He inspected himself to make sure that like the previous night there were no telltale sign of anything abnormal! Bright lipstick on Jonny’s face was the only sign that something that had happened and Jonny did remember the kiss, but with whom?

Jonny’s attention that day was on the previous night’s dream and what it meant, who was that woman whom he encountered, only remembering that she was beautiful, full of life but things just didn’t seem right with her! He did not know her name, where she was from or anything other that the rundown property he saw in the dream being brought back to life after kissing her.

Jonny and Justine met for dinner at their apartment, which was common occurrence. Both of them were not attached to anyone so they enjoyed the company of each other. Justine asked Jonny about how he was sleeping noticing recent changes in his behavior over the past few mornings! Jonny responded that he had been having strange vivid dreams that seemed so real in fact, they could not be real or could they? He had no idea where they were taking place except that a grand mansion was involved and a beautiful woman was present. Justine, I need the dream to continue to get the answers to my questions, I think that she might need my help! Justine looked at Jonny and wished him the best in dreamland. They said goodnight to each other and retired to their bedrooms. As Justine entered her bedroom, she thought to herself this is just becoming so very weird! The previous night, mud and blood all over his body, last night bright lipstick on his face, Justine put those thoughts aside and went to sleep for the night.

Jonny turned in for the night and was hoping that the dream would continue. He woke up the following morning feeling well rested with no recall of any dream that night.

  Night 4

Jonny found himself looking at the greenhouse full of butting flowers, plants, roses, and many other various types of plant and trees. It was a beautiful sight and Jonny felt blessed being able to experience it. In the center of the greenhouse was the woman that Jonny encountered a few nights previous in his dreams. He entered the greenhouse, approached the woman, and was greeted by hello Jonny it is good to see you again! Confused by this Jonny, looked at the woman and asked her what her name was? She responded by saying that her name was Christine Wentworth and I was murdered 45 years ago. Jonny responded saying that it is a pleasure meeting you and that he wasn’t sure as to what was happening, other than it could only be a dream. It is a dream Jonny and why you are here is a mystery to me just the same as it is to you.  My father Franklin was a rose breeder and got quite a famous name for himself and his roses. People would come from all around the country to admire his achievement. Jonny, when my father died he passed into the light, as it should be in every case because I witnessed his passing over. Jonny, every time I try to pass over, someone or something stops me from entering my final resting ground. It has been 45 years, I need to pass over, and I do not why I am being denied this right of passage! I have always tried to be a good person Jonny! As Christine was speaking, Jonny noticed tears flowing down her cheeks, felt sad for her and wanted to help.

Christine walked over to Jonny gave him a big hug and did not want to let him go. After a few minutes she released him, what was a grand greenhouse and mansion was transformed back to the run down estate that Jonny first experienced and saw! Christine’s dress was all frayed and torn, but she still looked as beautiful as she did when he first saw her. I do not know what happened to you but if you give me a chance, I will help you. They started walking outside towards the pond. Christine vanished at that point and Jonny found himself adjacent to the water looking down at Christine body laying face down in the water. Jonny could see someone walking towards the front gate as if he was trying to escape! The intruder turned around as if he wanted to see Christine one last time! She was murdered and he was walking away! Jonny had seen him, the one who had murdered Christine Wentworth. Jonny awoke the following morning in a complete sweat.

Day 5

Justine greeted Jonny good morning, noticed that once again he was in a total sweat, and asked him how he was doing? Jonnny replied DREAMS! Justine went off to work as usual.

Jonny remembered the dream or most of it! Jonny called his father and told him that he was not feeling well and would be taking the day off.

Christine was murdered and he saw the murderer. He knew when she was murdered 1965 but did not know where it happened. Jonny only remembered that she was floating face down in the pool. There was a covering of blood on the surface of the water, which gave Jonny an eerie feeling. Jonny had jumped into the pool to try to help Christine, but it was too late to save her. The murderer had accomplished his task and he was walking off to freedom! Jonny remembered enough about the circumstances to try to solve the case. He knew what the murderer looked like, approx. age and physical characteristics. He had a slight limp on his right foot and leg. One cannot hide that fact. Therefore, it should be easy enough to get a positive identification. Jonny figured that the murderer was somewhat an acquaintance of Christine or just a perverted individual who had just been stalking her.

The investigation was about to start. Jonny needed more information and maybe by some miracle it would come to him in another dream! Jonny thought about Christine the remainder of the day, reflecting on the past nights dream and any other related information that he could remember which might held in his pursuit to capture this criminal.  Jonny, that night visited with Justine and described the events that took place the past few nights and why he is will be pursuing this criminal investigation for Christine revenge. Justine rolled her eyes as she had previously done. She wanted to support Jonny in his endeavor, but had the same foresight as she did the previous night, that yes Jonny you are losing it! She did not tell him directly but felt that she did insinuate it clearly enough to him! Justine gave Jonny a hug and told him to be careful in what he was about to embark on. They bid each other goodnight and went to bed.

Night 6
Jonny found himself walking down a beach, where it was he did not have a clue. He was watching the large wave’s crash upon the beach. He sensed that he was in the West Coast area judging it because of the size of the waves, knowing that East Coast waves were much smaller. Jonny continued walking down the beach until he approached a small town and headed inland. The sign on the outskirts identified it as Bella Vista.  Jonny headed up the small set of stairs that lead him to level ground where he could get his bearings if in fact he had any. As he approached, it reminded him of Mystic, Connecticut. A small tourist town with shops, stores, art galleries lined up on both sides of the street. A draw bridge over a cannel that lead back to the ocean and multitudes of  people walking all about with no true destination other than enjoying themselves and shopping. Jonny sensed that his dream was leading him to a confrontation that he was not sure if he was ready for! As Jonny was walking down the street, he could not believe his eyes. Christine Wentworth was walking about 20’ in front of him. More beautiful than ever. Looking more alive than ever. She could not have known Jonny; their time had not come yet. Christine was still alive not knowing what would soon be happening to her. Jonny kept walking behind her admiring her beauty and watching her gazing in all the shops. She entered a high-end boutique full of funky looking clothing, clothing that suited her personality and persona. As Jonny was looking around he could not believe his eyes, Christine’s murderer was walking but a few steps behind her looking smug and belligerent. Christine had not noticed him since she had never meet him before and would never meet him. Strutting along as if he owned her. He had been probably stalking her for quite some time. The man was about 5’ 6” tall, heavy build, black hair and someone that Christine probably would never have gone out with. Jonny recognized him from the previous night’s dream, it was him limp and all. He entered the same store as Christine, bold; fearless with a vision of nothing good was to happen. He had a uniform on that of a police officer, a street beat cop probably belonging to the local police force. I guess he could strut about, he had a uniform on and that gave him the power. Jonny did not know his name but needed to find out what it was!

Jonny found himself approaching the mansion that she lived in with her parents just as it had been and looked in the previous dreams. The only difference was that the mansion was in pristine condition in all aspects and that included Christine. Elsie, Cora, Ernest and all the other help were bustling about and were unaware of what was in store for Christine. She was alive and loving every moment of it! Jonny noticed a sign on the entry Bonnie Brae a suitable name for a grand mansion.

Jonny, for the first time felt like a stalker himself but realized that it was in the beast interest of Christine to find out who had murdered her! Jonny knew where she lived, hoping to remember the dream when he awoke in the morning. Five Mackintosh Terrace Bella Vista, Oregon.

Day 7
Jonny awoke the following morning remembering the whole dream, as if he actually lived thru it. He was refreshed and ready to solve the murder of Christine Wentworth. Justine met Jonny for some breakfast and was impressed how refreshed he looked. A jovial personality was starting to emerge. Jonny looked at Justine and said I know who killed Christine, where he lives, what he looks like, where he’s employed and how he murdered her! All I have to do now is prove it Justine. A murder that happened back in 1965 at the estate of the Wentworth family. A beautiful young woman in the prime of her life murdered by a low life criminal.

Day 8

Jonny talked to his father and told him that he would be taking some more time off from work. His father did not like that since the company was quite busy. Jonny told him that it was of the utmost importance and that nothing could or would prevent him from what he was about to do!

Jonny boarded the next flight to Bella Vista, Oregon! Upon arriving in Bella Vista, Jonny knew what he had to do. Go to the police department and investigate/reopen a murder that has happened in 1965. Jonny settled into a reasonable priced hotel, got a map of the surrounding area, got a good nights sleep without any dreams. Jonny headed out first thing in the morning and set course for 5 Mackintosh Terrace. He needed to see if the mansion was in fact the same as he had seen it in his dreams or had Jonny lost it, as Justine had believed! Jonny approached the mansion with the sign in front saying Bonnie Brae just as he had seen in his dream. A 500’ drive way with beautiful gardens bordering sides, a beautiful pond and a grand mansion more beautiful than in his dreams. Jonny tried to pictured Christine coming out of the house but that could not happened because she had been murdered in 1965, it brought tears to Jonny’s eyes as it had for Christine that time in the greenhouse. Jonny left the property as not to raise any suspicions on why he was hanging around for no apparent reason. He would revisit at a latter time to meet the family.

Jonny’s next stop was at the police department. He entered the station and asked to speak to the police chief or someone who was in a position of authority. At that point, he noticed an old photograph of the police department and related staff. Who was in the background, no other than the murderer himself, standing, looking smug and defiant as he did in Jonny’s dream. Jonny asked an officer who the man was in the photograph. The office replied saying that his name is Lyle Andrew Connors.

With a straight face, Jonny looked at the chief of police and said that that man in this photo is responsible for the murder of Christine Wentworth in 1965. He struck her brutally over the head, pushed her into the pond and left her there to drown. He then walked off the property, looked back one more time to see his victim floating in the pond and never looked back again. Christine deserved more than that officer and I plan to make that happen! The officer looked at Jonny and said what are you talking about? Jonny found out the name of the officer, and that he was thrown off the police force in 1967 for insubordination and other related misappropriate behavior just three years after he had started. Jonny left the police station and headed back to his hotel room to sort out the information that he gathered during the course of the day.

Jonny returned to the police station the next morning to ask further question regarding the murder of Christine Wentworth. He approached the chief of police and told him that he witnessed Lyle commit the murder and he could prove it by having Lyle take a lie detector test! The chief replied by asking Jonny when and where he had witnessed the murder of Christine? The only response that Jonny could give was that it was in his dreams! The police chief looked at Jonny and said thank you for your interest but the case has been put away and closed. Statute of limitation had passed and nothing further could be done. Jonny was upset but realized that his accusations were unfounded in the eyes of the police and all others, if any action were to be taken, it would have to be through Jonny and Jonny himself! Jonny left the police station once again, realized what he had to do to avenge the murder of Christine Wentworth. He returned to his hotel room for the last time before his life was to take a drastic turn.

 Day 9

That morning Jonny went into town, purchased a gun thru a shady dealer, and set off to finalize his quest for justice! Jonny knew the vicinity of where Lyle would be hanging out. In the low life area’s of Bella Vista which were few to be found. Jonny approached Lyle, looked him squarely in the eyes and said this is your sentence for the brutal murder of Christine Wentworth. Lyle looked at Jonny and smiled replying, yea she was a beauty but that was many years ago. Jonny replied asking why? Lyle responded because I would never be able to have her. Jonny looked at Lyle, pulled out his gun and shot him squarely between the eyes. Threw the gun into the ocean and continued onward. For some reason he felt no remorse.

Jonny then went to Christine’s mansion and knocked on the front door. Christine’s mother Carol answered the door and looked confused as to who Jonny was. Jonny explained to her that indirectly he was a very close acquaintance of her but did not actually know her except through his dreams. Christine was a beautiful woman and I am so sorry for your loss but she will remain in the hearts of many people. Carol looked at Jonny and said it was time for him to leave before she called the police! Jonny’s last response was that the murder of your daughter has been avenged. Jonny headed to the airport for his return flight back Connecticut.

Jonny walked into his apartment and was greeted by Justine and the police. He was immediately arrested for the murder of Lyle Andrew Connors.

One Year Later

Jonny was sentenced to life in prison with no chance of parole. A sentence that Jonny accepted knowing that the murderer of Christine Wentworth had been avenged in an unjustified way but the final resolve had been accomplished no matter what the cost had been! Jonny had not had any more dreams of Christine and wondered if all of this was in vain? No seeing her brought about many depressed days and nights but after all, it was Jonny and only Jonny that had transformed his life into where it was now JAIL. He often wondered where he would be now if he had never listened to and be guided by his dreams!

Five Years Later

Jonny had slipped into a great depression. He had no expectations, no visitors except for an occasional one by his mother and Justine. He had lost all his friends and family. No dreams that he could remember. Nothing to look forward too. Life was a void and Jonny was suffering the consequences of his action to the fullest extent.

It was a spring day and Jonny was out in the courtyard taking in some sunshine since he rarely saw any of it. It felt good, Jonny was beginning to feel better about himself as a person, and he liked that feeling. A feeling that that he had not had in many years. A smile came over his face as he thought of Christine, her family and the mansion that he became so fond of.

Jonny went to bed around 8:00pm and settled in for the night forgetting for a brief moment that he was still in jail.

Hello Jonny and then instantly he was sitting in the parlor where he had first met Christine. She was beautiful as ever, smiling, radiant and portraying an essence full of life. She had not crossed over as of yet and Jonny was glad about that. He wanted Christine to be happy and cross over. Christine gave Jonny a big hug and kisses and said I have missed you so very much. She thanked Jonny for bringing Lyle the one who had murdered her in cold blood to justice.

I need to cross over; I need and want to be with you Jonny. Her radiant smile always brought a glow upon Jonny’s face. She was his true angel in this life of hell in prison.

 The Last Morning

Jonny has many more encounters with Christine in his dreams, which enabled him to tolerate a life of imprisonment. His dreams continued with Christine and her family. He had been reunited with Christine.

Life once again for Jonny was fantastic. He had a constant smile on his face with a big shit-eating.

THE END

Epilog - Christine does pass over to the other side with Jonny watching and yes, Christine is able to keep an occasional dream set aside for Jonny
